Foodie Call: Workshops for Healthy Eating in the New Year

Join us for a day of workshops to support you in eating & living healthy in 2018 and for a lifetime! Come for one workshop or stay for the day! Each workshop runs 90 minutes with question & answer. Warning: there will be A LOT of food!!!!

Fermentation Workshop - Learn to ferment your own sauerkraut in this hands-on fermentation workshop! Also learn the best methods for fermentation, the benefits of eating probiotic-rich foods and more! Bring your own knife, cutting board, big mixing bowl and jars. We will provide the cabbage, seasonings, salt and education.

Macronutrient Workshop - Stephanie Deddish, Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist, teaches the importance of how macronutrients influence your energy levels, your ability to exercise, and your ability to recover, not to mention, how they support you in your goals of weight loss or muscle building. Understand what foods make up each category, and how you can modify meals to balance your macronutrient intake, no matter what kind of diet you follow (Vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, gluten-free, etc.) View your food from a whole new perspective!

A Path to Successful Food Prep - Get on the Healthy Track with Jim Pappas, professional chef, caterer and Certified Health Coach as he demonstrates LIVE nutritional food prep and teaches healthy cooking techniques. Time-saving cooking and between-meal alternatives will be explored. He will reveal the 3 pillars of strength for a successful healthy lifestyle change, and happy eating for a lifetime. Many healthy foods will be served at this workshop, and if you have any requests for your personal faves, Jim will select a couple recipes to explore healthy variations! Emotions and Eating - Licensed Counselors and Health Specialists, Ryan McChesney and Samantha Elliott, reveal why it is that you reach for the foods you do when you’re feeling out of control, i.e. the ice cream or mac & cheese when you're feeling powerless or defeated. You’ll walk out of the workshop with an understanding of the chemical reactions that happen in your brain and body as a result of the foods you consume, and why eating sugar causes crankiness, exhaustion, and a need for more sugar. Ryan will explore practices for mindfulness while choosing foods, allowing you to create a whole new relationship to the food in your life.
